Is it really free?
The desktop app is free. Writing calls your own API key, so you pay your model provider directly. Optional cloud extras — content checks, a skill market — come later.
What kind of API key do I need?
Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint works. Paste a base URL and a key into Settings and you're writing.
Where does my data live?
In the .cowper folder on your machine. Drafts are kept inside the app; files are only written out when you export.
Will it auto-post to platforms?
No. You export to a file or your clipboard and post it yourself — your accounts stay in your hands.
